Carmela Drake, Ph.D., LPC-S, NCC, CAADP, ACGC-III
Carmela Drake, Ph.D., LPC-S, NCC, CAADP, ACGC-III
Dr. Carmela Drake is the owner of GFG Counseling and Consulting Services. She is an associate professor and Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services with a concentration in Addiction Studies (BSRS) Coordinator at Alabama State University. She also has been appointed to serve as the Faculty Athletics Representative for the university under the current president.
Dr. Drake received her Ph.D. in Human Services with a concentration in Counseling Studies from Capella University. She obtained her Masters of Science degree in Counseling and Human Development from Troy University-Montgomery.
Additionally, Dr. Drake is a Certified Adolescent Alcohol and Drug Professional (CAADP), a Certified Compulsive Gambling Counselor - level III (ACGC-III), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Licensed Professional Counselor and Clinical Supervisor (LPC-S) in the state of Alabama.
She has worked in the field of addictions and mental health for over 20 years. Her specialty area is co-occurring disorders with adolescents and young adults. She has since broadened her scope to focus on the mental health needs of student-athletes, with emphasis on transitioning from high school competition to intercollegiate sports and the impact of transitioning to life after competition.
